The world is fighting against a deadly and highly contagious virus, and so as our country, India. In order to avoid any spread of coronavirus in the nation, PM Modi made a firm decision to completely shut down the nation by imposing a countrywide lockdown.
As the whole country is sitting in their homes to follow the self-quarantine for preventing the spread of the virus, the country is facing crises and in order to avoid any such situation in the future, the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund have been established. This will help the country to grow healthier at the times when such kind of disastrous situation occurs in the future.
The release stated that a public charitable trust under the name of Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund’ (PM CARES Fund)’ has been created with the main aim of dealing with any kind of emergency or disastrous situation, such as stood by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to provide relief to the affected ones in the country. Prime Minister is the Chairman of this trust along with its Members that consist of Defence Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister.
Many people, celebrities, business tycoons among many others came up to donate a big amount of money to the PM- CARES Fund. And now, India’s richest sporting body, the BCCI, also took the pledge on Saturday to donate of Rs 51 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Currently, the country is under 21-day lockdown in order to contain the spread of the deadly virus that has claimed almost 25,000 lives all around the world. In India, there is a total number of 19 people who have lost their lives while more than 1000 people have been found COVID-19 positive.
BCCI stated that they will contribute INR 51 crores to Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund.
The statement issued by the body stated that “Mr. Sourav Ganguly and Mr. Jay Shah, along with the affiliated state associations on Saturday announced to donate INR 51 crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund)” in order to donate towards the establishment of the nation’s disaster management capacities as well as encouraging research to combat COVID-19 and to “protect Indian citizens,”
The statement further added, “The outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-1) is first and foremost a public health emergency and the BCCI has a steady resolution that the country gets all possible help in order to cope with the testing times,”
Other than the movie stars, Indian cricketers earlier on Saturday, also pledged to donate the big amount to the relief Fund. Cricketer Suresh Raina has pledged to donate Rs 52 lakhs, along with Rs 31 lakhs to donate to the PM CARES fund as well as Rs 21 lakh going to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
