In the wake of a sudden increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in India, the country has now recorded the highest spike, as of now. In the last 24 hours, India has recorded new 478 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, the highest number so far.
With this sudden increase, the total number of positive cases jumps to 2,547, as per the last update that has been published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. According to the recent update, the numbers consist of 2,322 active cases, 162 recovered patients while the other 62 were reported dead due to the deadly virus.
According to the updated list, the highest numbers of coronavirus positive cases were reported from Maharashtra, has 335 confirmed cases and 16 deaths, while 42 recoveries of the patients have been reported so far.
As far as the last two days in the country are considered, there were at least 647 confirmed cases of COVID-19 that have been reported from different 14 states in the country and are also related to the Tablighi Jamaat meet which was held at Delhi’s Nizamuddin area.
Delhi has reported the total number of 384 cases so far, and out of these, 58 patients have a history of foreign travel. In addition, many of them are also not from Delhi but were isolated in the national capital. There are also as many as 259 people, out of them, who had attended Markaz gathering.
In the updated data from the Union Health Ministry, three fresh deaths are reported, out of which one is from Gujarat and two are from Delhi. In addition, Maharashtra has also reported the most deaths so far with 13 causalities, which has been followed by Gujarat (7 causalities), Madhya Pradesh (6 causalities), Punjab and Delhi (4 causalities each), Karnataka, Telangana and West Bengal (3 causalities each), and Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala (2 causalities each).
On Friday morning at 9 AM, PM Modi also shared a message through a small video where he asked all the citizens of the country to switch off their lights on April 5 (Sunday) for 9 minutes at 9 PM and to light candles, Diya, flashlight from their houses in order to end the “darkness” of COVID-19.
Addressing the country through a video message, PM Modi praised the discipline showed by the Indians during this on-going 21-day lockdown that has been imposed by the government in order to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country as the virus is highly contagious.
This new deadly virus has infected more than a million people all around the world and has led to over 53,000 deaths, so far.
The United States has topped the chart of the highest number of coronavirus cases across the globe. The US has recorded more than 30,000 new cases and 1,169 fatalities in the past 24 hours. As per the Johns Hopkins, the total number of officially reported cases in the country has jumped to more than 243,000.
