As the Coronavirus crisis and the implementation of the lockdown across the country, the poor people or daily wages laborers are hard-hit amid the crises. The Modi government had earlier announced to support these people by depositing money in the bank accounts of the poor.
The government is now going to add 500 rupees to the Jan Dhan account of poor women. In addition to this, this help is going to be given for three months to the poor. This amount, on the other hand, is going to be deposited in the women’s account, starting from April 3 to April 9.
As earlier announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding the relief package amid coronavirus 21-day complete lockdown, many services along with financial help will be provided to the poor section of the country not only for lockdown period but also for three consecutive months.
Also, under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Package, an amount of Rs 500 each month is being deposited into the accounts of all the Women Jan Dhan Yojana beneficiaries by all banks. As the relief package is for three months, this is the first of the monthly installments.
Banks have now already started sending Rs 500 per month to the women who are PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana) account holders, from April 3 onward.
For maintaining the social distancing and systematic withdrawal of money by all the beneficiaries, a schedule of pay-out is going to be followed by all banks for April 2020. And then after April 9, the beneficiaries may possibly withdraw on any day at their accessibility.
The beneficiaries are advised not to rush for withdrawal as this money is being deposited into the individual bank accounts, respectively. On the other hand, money can be drawn at their convenience at any date in the future.
If the beneficiaries want, they can also use the ATMs in their neighborhood with RuPay cards, Bank Mitras, CSPs so that they can avoid crowding at their bank branches as much as possible. Furthermore, there will not be any extra charges for withdrawing money from any other bank ATMs, at the present date, according to the Government of India instructions.
Systematic withdrawal of money has been implemented by the government which will be followed by every bank in order to maintain social distancing:
- Jan Dhan accounts having the last digit 0 or 1, the money is going to be added to their account on 3rd April 2020.
- Jan Dhan accounts having last digit 2 or 3, will get the money to their account on April 4
- Jan Dhan accounts having last digit 4 or 5, will get the money to their account on April 7
- Jan Dhan accounts having last digit 6 or 7, will get the money to their account on April 8
- Jan Dhan accounts having last digit 8 or 9, will get the money to their account on April 9
On 26 March, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the relief package for the poor affected amid three weeks nationwide lockdown and had stated that 20.4 crore women are having Jan Dhan bank accounts at the present date and they all are going to get one-time cash help of Rs 1,500 which will spread over three months.
