Amazon Echo: How To Perfect Amazon Echo Features With Hidden Settings

Amazon Echo is a smart speaker by Amazon, connected to the voice-controlled intelligent personal assistant service Alexa. Amazon Echo will instantly respond when you say “Alexa”.

Amazon Echo can be used for a range of tasks such as making to-do lists, voice interaction, set alarms, provide weather forecasts, stream podcasts, play audiobooks, read PDFs, warn you of traffic, control your smart home, among so much more.

Create Your Personal Voice Profile

If multiple users are using your Echo device, then it is quite important for you to set up your own voice profile. For this, take your phone and open the Alexa app and then go to Settings > Account Settings > Recognized Voices > and create a voice profile. You must follow the onscreen prompts, which consists of reading four phrases out loud. When you will say “Alexa, who am I?” it will instantly tell you who’s speaking.

Group your Smart Devices

In order to avoid clarifying which light you want Alexa to turn on, you must need to group them by rooms. For doing this, you have open the Alexa app and then click on the Devices icon. After that select the Plus icon available at the top right corner and then tap on Add Group. As soon as you reach there, you can create a specific name for the group or can select from one of the names in the list, such as Family Room or else the Master Bedroom. After that you have to click on Next and select all of the smart devices for that room, then simply tap on Save.

That’s it, you are all done, at last you can say “Alexa, turn off the master bedroom lights” without naming every individual light that you have synced.

Making Routines

You don’t have to repeat things over and over again every morning or every single day, instead, you can create a whole routine. For this, you have to first open the Alexa app menu and then select Routines. After that, click on the Plus icon for starting the creating routines. If you want you can also create a night routine as well as location triggered routines as well.

Stream Music

If you own an Amazon Echo then you know that you get many choices when it comes to music streaming services which are well-suited with Amazon Echo. Along with that, Echo automatically defaults to Amazon Music, because of which you can change it to your favorite music platform such as Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM among many.

In order to change the default music service, you must first go to Settings > Music & Podcasts > and link to a service. After that simply change the default settings by selecting Default Services and then switch to your ideal music provider.

If in case you use a service that is not supported, such as YouTube Music, then still you can listen to your Echo speaker by simply pairing it to your phone with the help of Bluetooth. Then when you’re ready to listen, just simply say “Alexa, connect.”
